Chris explained that he would rather make his father a gift than “scramble to find one.” Thus, this project was born.
First, Chris drew up plans in a sketchbook. Then, he opened the files in Autodesk Fusion 360 to model the paddle and net holders. Using BoXZY’s transformative powers, he could easily switch between milling the paddle faces with wood to 3D printing the handle and net holders.
The BoXZY milled paddles were made out of 1/4 inch plywood using a 1/4 inch bit. The part had one pocket operation (inside cut) and one profile cut (cut around the paddle). Chris provided us with his Instructables link to show the complete process.
“By machining the paddles with BoXZY, I was able to save hours in the shop. This allowed me to progress with the rest of my project much faster,” Chris said.
Chris says that this project eliminated the worry about delivering a thoughtful gift for Father’s Day.
Chris has also designed a DIY for Mother’s Day, Modular Geometric Planters, and various other projects that harness all of BoXZY’s capabilities.
